In order to learn English we have to learn how to use Auxiliary Verb
in Sentence. Auxiliary Helping Verb plays major role in English Grammar Rules.
We can not understand the meaning of the Sentence without the Helping Verb.
Today we are going to discuss here the use
of was and were
Use of was were
Was/were together is also called the 2nd form
of the Main Verb
“Be”. The both words are the past tense words. These are used in Basic English Sentences and
Advanced English Sentences as well.
If we are using were and was with the Main Verb, it
indicates that we are describing some action in the Sentence with Verbs (we
will discuss this category further in out lessons).
And if we are using was and were without Main Verb, then
it is used to show the Merit and Demerit of any or Pronoun or it used to
indicate something in the Past.
Remember
The Helping Verb “Was” is always used with all the
Singular Subjects except “You” (I, He, She, It or Name).
We use “Were” in a Sentence with the Subject “You” and
with all Plural Subjects (We, They or plural Subjects).
Formula: Subject + was/were + Adjective
